ARIANA METALIA, LMHC, LPC
There's a specific point in our lives where we can be considered "emerging adults" - it's that awkward in-between where we aren't kids anymore, but we don't really feel like adults yet either (even if we legally are). We can find ourselves scanning the room for the adultier-adult to help us figure out what we're supposed to be doing, feeling lonely or in limbo with our experiences, and sometimes lacking confidence in ourselves and choices for our future. So much of our recent past did not turn out as we had expected, and navigating a post-COVID, tech-based world can be very confusing even for the supportive adults who are trying their best to help us.
So much of adolescence and young adulthood is defined by rapid growth and constant changes. We crave freedom, however we are often left feeling overwhelmed and lost when we are faced with big decisions. We crave excitement, but sometimes feel lost or out of control if we veer too far off path. We may be struggling with relationships, watching family dynamics and friendships change, or trying to figure out dating. For parents, seeing our children struggling is especially heartbreaking when we don't know how else we can help. Sometimes, seeking help from a licensed counselor is the best way to put things into perspective. Therapy is a safe space where you have access to a trained professional who can help you process your thoughts, understand your emotions, and choose behaviors that are beneficial to work towards a life you can feel proud of. People often endlessly review things in their mind to no avail, but in therapy you can have someone to turn to when you feel confused, frustrated, or alone, who can offer you the tools to help improve your life and feel grounded.

As a licensed therapist in New York and New Jersey, you or your child's emotional well-being and mental strength is my number one priority. I work with teenagers and young adults to assist them in navigating a period where their minds and bodies are experiencing one of the most dramatic shifts of their lifetime.

It’s time to take back control of your life and your wellness.
WHY START THERAPY?
Have you been trying to manage your worries, sadness, or discomfort on your own, or with the support of friends and family, but continue to struggle?
Do you have a hard time accomplishing everyday tasks or finding less enjoyment in activities?
Do you lie awake at night worrying about the next day or your future? Or replaying past events or decisions you've made?
Are these thoughts and feelings affecting your home, school, work, and/or social life and relationships?
If you answered yes to any or all of the above questions, it sounds like therapy may be a good option to explore. I am happy to discuss your needs further and help determine which path is right for you.
