GET TO KNOW ME

I am a Licensed Counselor in the greater New York area with 10 years of experience working in the field of mental health. I began my clinical training at Northwell Health, working in a variety of departments at Zucker Hillside Hospital and Cohen Children’s Medical Center. I have assisted children, adolescents, and adults in crisis care and emergency services, as well as providing weekly individual and group therapy.

 

My love for working with teenagers came from my experience at CCMC, where I helped open the first Behavioral Health Urgent Care under a school-hospital partnership, thus my current area of focus is with adolescents and young adults. These past few years, "emerging adults" have experienced so many changes in expectations and outlooks on their future, during a time in their life when they are already questioning so much about themselves. I aim to assist my clients in further developing their sense of self, working towards their goals, and maintaining an eager outlook on their future, while we sift through the barriers to achieve a better quality of daily life.

I use a combination of therapeutic modalities starting from a psychodynamic lens, while incorporating aspects of behavioral approaches like CBT, DBT, and ACT. I have also been trained in trauma-focused CBT. I have supported people through anxiety/panic, depression, healing from trauma, mood disorders, and many other concerns.

I was born and raised in New York. My family is ethnically Albanian, from the southeast region of Europe. I grew up watching the war in Kosova during the 1990s and witnessed the trauma it inflicted on our people. From that, I saw how deeply our mental health is intertwined with our general well-being and society at large. I knew going into this field that I would be able to make a difference. I actively keep myself informed on social issues, multi-cultural values, family systems, and keep up to date with research to make sure I am offering the best care for my clients.
